Every Motive Power Bleeder connects to your vehicle the same way: through an adapter that seals onto the master cylinder reservoir cap. Get the adapter right and a one-person brake bleed takes minutes. Get it wrong and it won't seal — which is why "which adapter fits my car?" is the question we hear most. Here are the two fastest ways to answer it.
The quickest route is our vehicle lookup. Enter your year, make, and model and it returns the exact adapter and bleeder kits that fit:
If the search box doesn't appear above, use the Year/Make/Model search on our home page or browse the full Application Guide.
Adapters are really matched to the reservoir cap, not the badge on the hood. Pop your hood, look at the master cylinder cap (driver's side firewall on most vehicles), and compare it to the five most common styles below.
| Your cap looks like… | Adapter | Typical vehicles |
|---|---|---|
| Round, screw-on threaded cap (1.5"–2.9") | 1101 Round Universal | Most older American and Asian cars and trucks; also see the 1119 and 1126 for larger or smaller caps |
| 45 mm threaded European (ATE-style) cap | 1100 European or billet 1109 Black Label | BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, Porsche, Volvo, MINI, Land Rover and most other European makes |
| 3-prong twist-lock cap | 1107 Ford & Asian Import or billet 1117 Black Label | 1986–2005 Ford, Lincoln, Mercury; most Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Nissan and other Asian imports |
| 3-tab cap, late-model GM style | 1108 Late-Model GM or billet 1118 Black Label | 1992+ Chevy, GMC, Cadillac, Buick; Tesla; many 2005+ Ford and Mazda |
| Chrysler rectangular/oval reservoir cap | 1103 MoPar or billet 1113 Black Label | Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM |
Driving something less common? We also make dedicated adapters for air-cooled VWs (1104), NA/NB Mazda Miatas (1111), classic British cars (1110), classic cars and boat trailers (1102), and Brembo-equipped motorcycles.
Standard adapters are cast aluminum and get the job done. Black Label adapters are CNC-machined billet aluminum with improved sealing — worth it if you bleed brakes often or want the best seal on a track car. Fitment is the same: a 1117 fits everything a 1107 fits.
All current Motive adapters interchange with any Motive Power Bleeder tank, so if you already own one, you only need the adapter itself. Starting fresh? Each adapter has a matching complete kit — for example, the 0100 European kit, 0108 GM kit, or 0118 Black Label kit — that includes the tank, pump, and the right adapter in one box. Own a pre-2008 bleeder with a permanently attached cap? The 0400 Brass Adapter Kit converts it to accept interchangeable adapters.
Still not 100% sure? Compare your cap against real photos on our Adapter Pictures page, or contact us with your year, make, and model and we'll confirm fitment. And if your adapter just needs a new seal rather than replacement, we stock replacement gaskets and O-rings for every adapter we make.
